To be a member of the choir, you must follow the following choir rules
- Be on Time, sign the role and be in your seat by 8:00. (Role will be removed by 8:05)
- Students will be allowed two unexcused absences. (If there are other issues, contact Miss Fiso before choir for an excused absence)
- Listen when the instructor is speaking, and sing when it is your turn.
- Learn the words (Lyrics will be available on the choir website).
Join the Jordan Ridge Elementary Band!
Open to all Jordan District 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Students
The Jordan Ridge Elementary Band Program offers students the opportunity to learn a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument in a structured, engaging, and high-quality music program. Students build fundamental musical skills, develop confidence, and work as a team, all while experiencing the excitement of live performance.
Under the direction of Ms. Nelya Coomans, students are held to high standards and encouraged to grow both as individual musicians and as members of an ensemble. Our goal is to foster a lifelong appreciation and understanding of music.

Flute • Clarinet • Alto Saxophone • Trumpet • French Horn •Trombone • Tuba •Percussion
Rehearsal Schedule (2025–2026):
- Beginning Band: Mon/Wed | 8:00–8:45 AM
- Advanced Band: Tues/Fri | 8:00–8:45 AM
- Jazz Band: Thursday | 3:45–4:30 PM
Tuition:
$100 per semester ($200 for the full year).
Scholarships and financial assistance are available.
Program Highlights:
- Multiple performances throughout the school year in both a school and community setting
- Field Trip to USU for Band Competition/Festival (in May)
- Opportunities for individual growth through practice, playing tests, and ensemble work
What Students Need:
- A rented or owned instrument (local rental options available)
- Accent on Achievement Method Book
- Daily practice at home (10–15 minutes recommended)
Getting Started:
Back to Band Parent Information Night is in August. Parents will receive information about band, along with our band handbook, a complete performance schedule, and information about renting instruments. Our Instrument Petting Zoo/Rental Night typically occurs soon after. This event is for students to come try out instruments and rent the one they like. Band rehearsals begin in September.

Grades 3-4
All students should have the opportunity to learn to communicate through storytelling. Story Wavers encourages inventive thinking and imagination, which leads to better reading, writing and communication skills. Storytelling engages students in the enjoyable pursuit of literature and nurtures the preservation of the oral tradition of storytelling. Additionally, storytelling supports the reading and writing curriculum standards and strengthens communication and visualization skills.
Students who want to hone the art of storytelling beyond the classroom should be encouraged to tell their stories to different audiences. Teachers are encouraged to provide various opportunities for students to tell their stories. They may wish to consider facilitating a storytelling festival in their classroom, grade-level, or school.
Students who show a genuine interest and enthusiasm in storytelling may be given an opportunity to represent their school at the district storytelling event. One student or one set of two students with exceptional storytelling abilities can represent their school at the district festival.

Student Preparation
Students are encouraged to tell their stories as often as possible. Students should find opportunities at home and school to practice, practice, and practice!
To allow your 3rd or 4th grader to participate at Jordan Ridge, please fill out the storyweavers application and return it to Mrs. Edgel at the first student meeting on Sept. 11th.
